Here is your official player profiles for all members of the Coventry City First Team & U21s teams that have signed confirmed professional contracts with the club as of September 2022. 


Goalkeepers

Simon Moore

Goalkeeper Simon Moore joined the Skyblues in Summer 2021, after being released by now Championship side Sheffield United. Moore immediately became the clubs number one, his first time in that role for almost five years. This is due to him falling down the pecking order at Brammal Lane, following the Blades rise to the Premier League.

Ben Wilson

Goalkeeper Ben Wilson joined the Skyblues in Summer 2019, following his departure from then relegated League One side Bradford City. He signed as an understudy to Marko Marosi who had joined the club the very next day. He was originally a back-up option, particularly in the clubs 2019/20 League One title win.

Tom Billson (Out On Loan)

Goalkeeper Tom Billson has been apart of Coventry City since he was a young kid, and has  progressed through the ranks at the club, until he earned his first professional contract in Summer 2019. In August 2019, Billson made his first team debut for the club, during a Carabao Cup match against Gillingham, where the Skyblues lost on penalties.

Cian Tyler

Goalkeeper Cian Tyler has been with the football club from an early age, and has progressed through the clubs academy up until 2020. In 2020, Tyler signed his first ever professional contract and linked up with the clubs U18s as well as featuring for Wales at youth level. In late 2020, the Welshman joined Non-League side Barwell FC on a one-month loan deal, with the aim of experiencing mens first team football earlier.

Luke Bell (Out On Loan)

Goalkeeper Luke Bell joined the Skyblues originally in 2016, after he was released by Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers. Since then, he's progressed through the clubs U16s and U18s, and as a result earned his reward last summer.

Defenders

Jonathan Panzo (In On Loan)

Centre-back Jonathan Panzo joined the Skyblues in July 2022 on loan from newly-promoted, Premier League side Nottingham Forest. He immediately impressed during pre-season, netting three goals in four games, including a brace in his debut against Oxford United.

Callum Doyle (In On Loan)

Centre-back Callum Doyle joined the Skyblues in July 2022 on loan from Premier League champions Manchester City. This was fresh off the back of scoring in the final as he was a firm part of the England U19s squad that won the U19s European Championship's.

Michael Rose

Centre-back Michael Rose joined the Skyblues on a pre-contract agreement from Scottish Championship side Ayr United in January 2019, before linking up with the squad in July 2019. In his debut season, Rose caught the eye as he pushed to get ahead of fellow Scotsman Dominic Hyam, as well as piping up with a couple of goals.

Kyle McFadzean 🏥

Centre-back Kyle McFadzean joined the Skyblues in May 2019, following his release from then League One rivals Burton Albion. In his debut season, McFadzean had an outstanding campaign as the club stormed to the League One title. The following season was a tough first season back in the second tier, competing with some strong teammates like Dominic Hyam and Leo Ostigard, as the Skyblues stayed up.

Todd Kane

Full-back Todd Kane joined the Skyblues on deadline day in August 2021, on a free transfer from Championship side Queens Park Rangers, reuniting with former Chelsea academy coach Adi Viveash.

Fankaty Dabo

Full-back Fankaty Dabo joined the Skyblues from Premier League side Chelsea on a free transfer, to replace the departed loanee Dujon Sterling. In his debut season, Dabo earned the title of the best full-back in League One and played a major part in the clubs title win during the 2019/2020 season.

Jake Bidwell

Full-back Jake Bidwell joined Coventry City in January 2020, in order to provide competition for the then-loanee Ian Maatsen. Bidwell used his experience well, featuring left-back to allow Maatsen to go further forward as well as slotting into a left-sided centre-back when required.

Julien Dacosta (Out On Loan)🏥

French full-back Julien Dacosta joined Coventry City in July 2020, following the clubs promotion back to the Championship. He began ahead of Fankaty Dabo but seemingly struggled to capture the heights he could have, despite a handful of positive performances.

Josh Reid

Full-back Josh Reid joined the Skyblues in January 2021, after signing from Scottish Premiership side Ross County for an undisclosed fee. He was immediately placed in the clubs U23s, with an eye for breaking through to the first team scene.

Abel Alabi (Out On Loan)

Centre-back Abel Alabi joined the Skyblues back in November 2021, on a free transfer from Irish Premiership side Waterford FC. The defender has previously experienced english football, as a member of the Southend United  youth setup in his early career, before being released and moving to Ireland.

George Burroughs (Out On Loan)

Young defender George Burroughs has been with the Skyblues since the age of seven, alongside his older brother Jack. The 20-year-old broke through to the clubs U18s, towards the end of the 2020/21 season and as a result, he signed his first professional contract with the club in May 2021.

Blaine Rowe

Full-back Blaine Rowe is another proud product of the Coventry City academy and has spent his entire career, except for a brief loan spell with the club. He remained a standout player for the clubs U18s and was swiftly offered a professional deal and a promotion up to the clubs U23s.

Dermi Lusala (Out On Loan)

Young defender Dermi Lusala joined Coventry City in July 2022 via a free transfer. The full-back spent his entire youth career with Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur where he impressed despite being held back with constant minor injuries.

Jay McGrath (Out On Loan)

Young defender Jay McGrath joined the Skyblues in the Summer of 2020, following a successful trial. He arrived from Non-League side Mickelover Sports, following the pattern of former Skyblues defender Morgan Williams. He was immediately placed in the clubs U18s, ahead of a very busy 2020/21 season.

Midfielders

Liam Kelly

Coventry City captain Liam Kelly joined the side in May 2017, on a free transfer after leaving Leyton Orient when his contract expired. In his debut season, Kelly formed a strong partnership with midfield partner Michael Doyle, creating the famous 1,2,3,4 chant as well as guiding the club to their first promotion in almost fifty years via the League Two play-off final.

Jamie Allen

Midfielder Jamie Allen joined the Skyblues in August 2019, from then League One rivals Burton Albion for an undisclosed fee. Despite suffering a tough first season due to injuries, he really impressed when it mattered as the club won the League One title in his debut campaign.

Callum O'Hare🏥

The Solihull Messi aka. Callum O'Hare originally joined the Skyblues on loan from Premier League side Aston Villa in July 2019. However, after playing a staring role in the clubs League One title winning side, O'Hare completed a dream return just a few weeks later, when he was let go by Villa following the expiry of his contract.

Ben Sheaf

Defensive midfielder Ben Sheaf  joined the Skyblues originally on a loan deal from Premier League side Arsenal, with the option of making the move permanent for £750,000. In his debut season, Sheaf had a very strong campaign, becoming one of the most under-appreciated players in the squad.

Josh Eccles🏥

Versatile midfielder Josh Eccles is a Skyblues academy graduate and has played at every level throughout his climb to the first-team. He signed his first professional deal back in 2016, and even then, the potential was easy to spot. He made his first team debut for the club in 2018 EFL Trophy clash against Cheltenham Town.

Versatile midfielder Jack Burroughs is a proud academy graduate, and has been a firm member of the Skyblues squad's for many years. He has also made a strong impression on the international stage with his native Scotland, and remains in their U21s.

Ryan Howley

Academy graduate Ryan Howley became a member of the first-team back in July 2021. He was always tipped for success, making appearances for the Wales youth sides and he made his first-team debut during a Carabao Cup match against Northampton Town, where he started the fixture and played 63 minutes.

Gustavo Hamer

Brazilian born, Dutch midfielder Gustavo Hamer joined the Skyblues from Dutch top-flight side PEC Zwolle for a fee of £1.5million. That was the first time in over a decade that the club paid seven figures for a footballer, so the expectation was massive. In his debut season, Hamer stood out as one of the Championship's best central midfielders, including a 35-yard-header against Watford.

Marco Rus (Out On Loan)

Romanian midfielder Marco Rus joined the Skyblues from Premier League side Southampton after his scholarship expired. He came with a lot of hopes, having been very highly rated at The Saints.

Kasey Palmer

Midfielder Kasey Palmer joined the Skyblues in July 2022 from Championship rivals Bristol City for an undisclosed fee. He was also the only permanent player to join the club (first team only) throughout the entire transfer window.

Aidan Finnegan

Midfielder Aidan Finnegan joined the Skyblues from Midland rival's Birmingham City, after his scholarship expired at St Andrews, in October 2020. His debut season was certainly a quieter one than expected, however to his credit, he did a good job considering he'd joined after the season had already taken place.

Forwards

Martyn Waghorn

Striker Martyn Waghorn arrived at the CBS Arena on a free transfer in July after he left Derby County following the expiry of his contract. At the start of last season, Waghorn developed a strong relationship with Viktor Gyokeres, sending the Skyblues into the top two of the Championship.

Viktor Gyokeres

Swedish international Viktor Gyokeres originally joined the Skyblues from Premier League side Brighton Hove Albion on loan in January 2021, but despite failing to score, his quality caught the eyes of the Coventry City scouts, who made the deal permanent for roughly £1,000,000 in July 2021.

Tyler Walker🏥

Striker Tyler Walker joined the Skyblues from then-Championship rivals Nottingham Forest, following Coventry's promotion to the second tier in June 2020. In his debut season, Walker finished as the clubs top goalscorer, with eight league goals, including a brace against Brentford.

Matt Godden🏥

Striker Matt Godden joined the Skyblues from then-fellow League One side Peterborough United for an initial fee of £750,000. He was tasked with replacing the departed Conor Chaplin and in his debut campaign, Godden scored fourteen goals in 26 league appearances as Coventry City stormed to the League One title.

Fabio Tavares

Portuguese striker Fabio Tavares is a very popular forward amongst the Sky Blue Army that's for sure. He joined the club from Rochdale in February 2021, for an undisclosed fee and was immediately placed in the clubs U23s for the remainder of the season.

Ricardo Dinanga (Out On Loan)

Skyblues winger Ricardo Dinanga joined the club in Mid-2021 from Irish side Cork City following a successful trial period, plus the expiry of his contract. He immediately finished the season strong, adding a couple of goals as well as providing assists as his side cruised to winning the Professional Development League title.

Danny Cashman (Out On Loan)

Winger/Attacking midfielder Danny Cashman joined the Skyblues from Premier League side Brighton Hove Albion, following the expiry of his contract at the Amex Stadium. However, he was immediately loaned out to League Two side Rochdale for the entirety of the 2021/22 season.  Here he made 28 appearances, scoring twice and assisting a further three, but found game time hard to come by.

Tom Costello

Forward Tom Costello joined the Skyblues from Championship rivals Wigan Athletic on a free transfer this summer. Costello has scored on two separate occasions against the club at youth level over the last few season's.

Will Bapaga

Academy graduate Will Bapaga, signed his first professional contract back in November 2019, fresh off the back of breaking through in the clubs U18s set-up, well ahead of schedule. He made his Coventry City debut, during an EFL Trophy match during the 2019/2020 season, as well as continuing to impress in the club’s U23s, and he also made his league debut weeks later.

Justin Obikwu

Academy graduate Justin Obikwu signed his first professional contract in summer 2021, fresh off the back of a strong couple of season’s for the clubs U18s, scoring and assisting, developing a strong partnership with the likes of Evan Eghosa and Harrison Nee.

Evan Eghosa

Youngster Evan Eghosa is another product of the famous Coventry City academy and is also versatile, being able to play as a striker, winger or attacking midfielder for the Skyblues.

Bradley Stretton

Academy graduate Bradley Stretton signed his first professional deal, back in November 2021, following his rise through the youth system. He has scored for the first team, during a pre-season friendly against Leamington FC.

Academy graduate Harrison Nee signed his first professional contract in June 2021, fresh off the back of an outstanding debut season in the U18s, where he scored fifteen goals as well as a couple of assists.

Marcel Hilssner

German winger Marcel Hilssner joined the Skyblues back in July 2019, from German side SC Paderborn for a small undisclosed fee, believed to be roughly £300,000. He began in pre-season, making a decent start during a defeat against Swindon Town before seemingly disappearing away from our eyes.
