Player Biography
Coventry City captain Liam Kelly joined the side in May 2017, on a free transfer after leaving Leyton Orient when his contract expired. In his debut season, Kelly formed a strong partnership with midfield partner Michael Doyle, creating the famous 1,2,3,4 chant as well as guiding the club to their first promotion in almost fifty years via the League Two play-off final.
Following the departure of Doyle in January 2019, Kelly took over as role of first team captain and guided the side to the League One title in the following season. Despite injuries creeping into his game more frequently, Kelly has seemingly got even better in the Championship, adding a couple of goals as well. He suffered an injury in pre-season which saw him miss several matches but returned to U21s action against Sheffield United and scored his first goal against Burnley also in the U21s.
